OAKDALE, N.Y.- The Dowling College volleyball team picked up their fifth straight win with a 3-0 sweep over Mercy College this evening at Dowling Gymnasium.  The Golden Lions improve to 17-8 on the season, 11-3 in East Coast Conference play.  The Mavericks drop to 5-22 overall, 1-12 ECC.
 
The Mavericks lead early in the opening set with the Golden Lions coming back to tie it up at seven.  Play went back and fourth with 12 tied scores with Dowling coming away with a 28-26 win for a 1-0 match lead.  Set two remained close through the opening points, but the Golden Lions went on an 8-0 run to jump ahead 20-11 and take the set 25-17.  Dowling finished the sweep with a 25-17 win in set three. 
 
Junior Jessica Kalbfleisch finished with a team high 14 kills and sophomore Katarzyna Klocek recorded double digits with 12 kill hitting .409.  Junior setter Kayla Dillman recorded 38 assists as junior libero Kayla Morgan scooped up a match high 18 digs.
 
The Mavericks were led by senior Brenna White a double double of 17 kills hitting at .325 and picking up 16 digs.  Setter McKenna Ronan dished 24 assists  with libero Niccole Soriano recording 15 digs.
 
The Golden Lions return to Dowling Gymnasium Thursday, October 30^th as they host NYIT.  Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
