WEST HAVEN, CONN.-  The Dowling College volleyball team dropped a close non-conference match 3-2 to the University of New Haven this afternoon.  The Golden Lions move to 8-7 on the season as the Chargers improve to 8-4.
 
The Chargers took set one 25-18 before the Golden Lions evened the match with a 25-18 win in the second set.  New Haven retook the match lead with a 26-24 win in set three.  Dowling again evened the match taking the fourth set 25-17 before the Chargers came away with the match with a 15-8 fifth set win.
 
Three Golden Lions finished with double figure kills.  Junior Jessica Kalbfleisch had a team high 18 kills and completed a double double with 13 digs.  Also finishing with a double double was senior Cassy Kellly with 13 kills and 22 digs and junior Kayla Dillman with 47 assists and 12 digs.  Dragana Jelovac added 11 kills with three block assists.  Junior libero Kayla Morgan racked up 21 digs and senior Elizabeth Gorman recorded four solo blocks and assisted on three.
 
The Chargers were led be Kristy Atufunwa with 19 kills and a .444 hitting percentage.  Margo Meteyer finished with a double double of 12 kills and 15 digs.  UNH setter Kaulana Ane dished 48 assists and Kea-Marie Olaso tallied a match high 25 digs. 
 
The Golden Lions return to East Coast Conference play Tuesday, October 30th as they travel to take on Mercy College.
