WOMEN’S SOCCER PLACES FIVE ON ECC ALL CONFERENCE TEAMS, GUGLIELMO NAMED GOALKEEPER OF THE YEAR

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y.-  The Dowling College women’s soccer team placed five Golden Lions on the ECC All-Conference teams.  Senior Melissa Guglielmo earned Goalkeeper of the Year honors and joining her on the First Team was Lindsey Thompson.  Earning spots on the Second Team were junior Allie Merrill, sophomore Christina Cottone and freshman Kristen Breihof.
 
Guglielmo is honored as the Goalkeeper of the Year after compiling a 11-3-2 record in front of the net for the Golden Lions. On the season the three-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week tallied 57 saves for a  0.90 goals against average, both good for fifth in the conference. Guglielmo also posted five shutouts and finished second in ECC action with an .824 save percentage.
A two time All-Conference selection, Thompson led the Golden Lions with 11 goals on the season and finished with 24 points.  She finished among conference leaders in goals, points, shots and game winning goals.
 
Cottone and Merrill patrolled the midfield for the Golden Lions recording ten points apiece.  Cottone led DC and ranked 4th in the conference with eight assists while recording one goal.  Merrill wrapped up the season with three goals and four assists.  Breihof anchored the back line recorded five shutouts and held opponents to less than a goal a game.
