OAKDALE, N.Y.- Junior
Jessica Kalbfleisch finished with a match high 21 kills and recorded her 1000
th career kill in a 3-1 win over the New York Institute of Technology this evening at Dowling Gymnasium. The Golden Lions improve to 18-8 on the season, 12-3 in East Coast Conference play. The Bears slide to 12-6 overall, 7-7 ECC.
Kalbfleisch’s 1000
th kill came early in the opening set that had 13 tied scores and six lead changes the ended in favor of the Golden Lions 25-23. Dowling went on to take the second set 25-18 for a 2-0 match lead. The Bears managed to stay alive with 25-19 win the set three before the Golden Lions closed out the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth set.
Kalbfleisch recorded her 15
th double double of the season with 11 digs.
Katarzyna Klocek finished with 12 kills as junior setter
Kayla Dillman handed out 43 assists. Junior libero
Kayla Morgan had a team high 28 digs with senior
Nicole Parkas totaling 27 digs. At the net the Golden Lions tallied 16 total blocks with
Elizabeth Gorman and Dillman having a hand in five and four respectively.
Leading the Bears with 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .414 was Kate Brock. Setter Allison Fowler dished 37 assists with libero Becky Syers recording a match high 30 digs.
The Golden Lions return to Dowling Gymnasium for the final time this season Tuesday, November 4
th as they host Molloy College. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
