Box Score SHIRLEY, N.Y.- The Dowling College women’s soccer close out their regular season schedule with a 3-0 win over Concordia College. The Golden Lions improve to 11-3-2 on the season as the Clippers fall to 0-14.
The Golden Lions got on the board early with a goal in the fifth minute of play. Sophomore
Christina Cottone sent a through ball right to
Lindsey Thompson who beat Concordia’s keeper with a shot to the lower right side of the net. Dowling added to their lead in the 40
th minute when Concordia’s Astonia Carey turned the ball over in the box and Thompson sent a pass to
Kayla Reyes who found the bottom left corner sending the Golden Lions into the break leading 2-0.
Dowling added a second half goal in the 78
th minute when senior
Dayna Galli sent a pass through to
Amber Pindulic who’s shot found the back of the net for a 3-0 lead.
The Golden Lions out shot the Clippers 31 to 4 with a 9 to 0 advantage in corner kicks. Senior goal keeper
Melissa Guglielmo spent the first 45 minutes between the pipes making two saves before giving way to junior
Mariah Valva who post a scoreless second half.
The Golden Lions will resume play in the East Coast Conference Tournament Wednesday November 5
th.
