SHIRLEY, N.Y.- The Dowling College women’s soccer team blanked the University of Bridgeport this afternoon at Golden Lions Field. The Golden Lions improve to 9-3-1 on the season, 5-1-1 in East Coast Conference action. The Purple Knights drop to 8-3-1 overall, 3-3 ECC.

Christina Cottone who ripped a shot form 35 yards out over the head of UB’s keeper Kaitlin Occhipinti. Less than two minutes later, sophomore
Taylor Davide nearly doubled the lead, but her shot hit the crossbar and the Bridgeport defense managed to clear the ball to head into the break trailing 1-0.
Both side created opportunities in the second half each with two shots on goal but neither side found the back of the net and the Golden Lions came away with the 1-0 win.

Melissa Guglielmo finished with three saves on the day with UB’s Occhpinti matching with three of her own.
