CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y.- Melissa Guglielmo of the women’s soccer team picked up her second consecutive East Coast Conference Weekly Award for her efforts on the field last week. She was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Guglielmo recorded eights saves to go 2-0 last week with shutouts in both wins. In a non-conference match-up against Wilmington on Wednesday afternoon, she amounted a total of five saves. On Saturday afternoon, she held the St. Thomas Aquinas Lady Spartans to zero goals and recorded three saves in the victory.
HONOR ROLLChris Friedl, Men’s Soccer (Jr, GK, Port Jefferson, N.Y.)
Junior goalkeeper Chris Friedl went 2-0 last week that included a clean sheet earlier last week. Friedl didn’t allow a goal and had made saves against the Bloomfield College on Wednesday night. Friedl allowed his only goal of the week on Saturday afternoon against St. Thomas Aquinas. He ended the week with a 5 goals against average and a .667 save percentage.
