PHILADELPHIA, PENN.- The Dowling College women’s basketball team fell short this afternoon, 56-40, this afternoon to Chestnut Hill College in Sorgenti Arena. The Golden Lions fall to 2-8 on the season as the Griffins improve to 3-7.
Senior
Nicole Caggiano poured in a game high 11 points for the Golden Lions with senior Kristin McMahon finishing in double figures with 10 points. Juniors
Jessica Kalbfleisch and
Krstina Surlan recorded 12 and 10 rebounds respectively.
The Griffins were led by Olivia Gorczynski who finished with a game high 25 points paired with six boards. Shayla Felder and Brianne Morgera came in with eight points apiece.
Chestnut Hill shot 33.3% from the field while holding the Golden Lions to just 20%. The Griffins held a slight 12-11 turnover advantage, however, Dowling managed to gain 12 points as CHC benefitted just four.
The Golden Lions knocked down 13 of 18 from the free throw line whit the Griffins converting just 10 of 18 attempts. Despite losing the battle of the boards, 50-49, Chestnut Hill finished with 22 points in the paint to Dowling’s 16.
The Golden Lions returns from the holiday break Friday, January 9
th as they travel to face Daemen College. Game time is set for 6:00 PM.
