OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.- The Dowling College women’s basketball dropped a 74-67 decision on the road at the New York Institute of Technology this evening. The Golden Lions fall to 4-15 overall, 4-8 in East Coast Conference play. The Bears improve to 14-5 on the season, 9-3 ECC.
The Golden Lions made 12 field goals in the first half and 11 in the second half. Their three-point shooting was also off as they finished 3-of-13 for 23 percent.
Senior
Christine Verrelle led the Golden Lions 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Junior
Kamille Ejerta finished in double figures with 16 points with freshman
Jasmine Sapp rounding out the top scorers with 12 points and five boards.
NYIT shot 40-percent in both halves and dominated second chance points 25-17 along with a 50-37 edge in rebounds. Dowling used 15 NYIT turnovers converting them in 19 points.
Three Bears scored in double figures with Julie Williams pacing the squad at 16 points and 11 rebounds. Audrey Knowlton and Dina Ragab recorded 14 points apiece and accounted for 17 rebounds combined.
The Golden Lions remain on the road as they travel to face LIU Post Saturday, February 7
th. Game time is set for 1:30 PM.
