OAKDALE, N.Y.- Senior
Christine Verrelle recorded her 1000
th career point as they Golden Lions fall to Molloy College 61-58. Dowling slides to 3-13 on the season, 3-7 in East Coast Conference play. The Lions improve to 7-10 overall and even out at 7-7 in ECC action.
Verrelle finished with 12 points on the day with eight rebounds and seven assists. Junior
Jessica Kalbfleisch knocked down a game high 21 points with junior
Krstina Surlan finishing in double figures with 13 points while adding five assists.
Molloy was led by Alexia O’Connor with 14 points and three steals. Ally Leftridge pitched in with 10 points and two assists.
After trailing 31-28 at the break, the Golden Lions came out from the locker rooms with three unanswered buckets taking a 34-31 lead in the opening minutes. Dowling remained in control through the first seven minutes of the second frame until O’Connor hit a three giving Molloy their first lead of the second half, 40-39. Both sides exchanged leads six times in the second portion of the half, but with key offensive rebounds from Molloy’s Leftridge and Aliyah McDonald the Lions held on for the three-point win.
The Golden Lions finished shooting 44.6% from the field, 25 for 56, with 18 points in the paint and 13 points from turnovers.

Jessica Kalbfleisch had this to say about Verrelle’s 1000
th point, “I am incredibly proud of Christine and all of her accomplishments. She works hard day in and day out and I am so grateful to spend time with her on and off the court.”
The Golden Lions return to Dowling Gymnasium as they host Mercy College Wednesday, January 28
th. Tip off is set for 5:00 PM.
