Vincent Funaro
A three year captain and defender, Vincent Funaro of Patchogue, NY is the definition of determination. Furnaro over came all odds after a serious leg injury he sustained prior to the fall season, an injury that could prevent him from walking, let alone participate in the 2006 lacrosse season. With countless hours of rehabilitation, the 6’2" junior earned All-Conference honors as he was named to the Pre-Season All-NYCAC Conference Team.

Vincent Funaro’s strength and drive was the motivation and inspiration for his teammates as well as the coaching staff throughout the 2006 season. As their captain, Funaro led his team to their first NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Finals while ammassing 36 ground balls. His efforts earned him Second Team All-Conference and Second Team All-America honors.

In his final season on the Golden Lions’ back line, Funaro scooped up a team high 49 ground balls while causing 19 turnovers to help Dowling to an 8-4 overall record. He was named First Team ECC All-Conference and garnered Second Team All-American honors for the second consecutive year.
