Dr. Brian Cruickshank
Dr. Cruickshank recently joined Stony Brook Orthopaedic Associates as a sports medicine specialist and is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Orthopaedics within the Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He is board certified in Family Medicine, having completed medical school at St. George’s University and a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Cruickshank is Director of the Concussion Management Program at Stony Brook Medicine, working collaboratively with colleagues to evaluate and monitor student athlete head injuries to ensure their safe return to sports.
Dr. Cruickshank was born and raised in Babylon and graduated from St. John the Baptist High School. He attended the University of Buffalo on a soccer scholarship, served as a captain of the men’s team, and obtained a degree in Physical Therapy. Prior to attending medical school, he was employed for several years as a licensed Physical Therapist. During his training at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Cruickshank assisted in the care of the NFL’s Steelers, the NHL’s Penguins and University of Pittsburgh athletes.
