Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach


Kerri McCabe enters her seventh as head coach of the Women’s Lacrosse team after being appointed the program’s first head coach. In her inaugural 2008 season, she guided the young squad to the ECAC Title and finished with a 10-5 overall record. McCabe has led Dowling to an overall record of 71-25, two ECC championships, a ECAC championship, and a NCAA Tournament appearance.  The team now looks to build off last year’s 13-3 record in hopes to make it back to the NCAA tournament.

 In 2009, McCabe led the Golden Lions to a 9-4 record with wins over nationally ranked Stonehill and Limestone. Her team’s efforts earned her ECC Co-Coach of the Year and also womenslacrosse.com Division II National Coach of the Year.

The Women’s Lacrosse team put together their third straight winning season in 2010, finishing with a record of 11-6 while finishing third in the East Coast Conference with a record of 5-2.  After jumping out to a 4-1 start to the season that included a win over nationally ranked New Haven. Dowling rebounded by winning six of their final eight matches to keep their streak of winning seasons intact. Numerous team members were honored for outstanding individual seasons with Cassandra leading the way. Cronin became the first All-American in program history as she was named to both the womenslacrosse.com and IWLCA All-America Second Team. Cronin, who set the program’s single season record with 67 goals, also was named to the IWLCA All-North Region First Team, the ECAC All-Star team, and to the ECC All-Conference First Team. Joining Cronin on the IWLCA All-Region squad was defender Samantha Titus was also named to the ECAC All-Star Team and ECC All-Conference First Team as well. Five other Golden Lions were honored with All-Conference honors.

In 2011 Coach McCabe was voted the ECC Coach of the Year coach, and was a finalist for the National Coach of the Year. McCabe was selected to coach in the IWLCA’s annual North / South Senior All-Star game in 2011, here she lead the North Squad.

 She guided Dowling to a 15-2 overall mark and were ranked fifth in the nation which is the highest in program history. In that same season the Golden Lions captured their first ever ECC Championship and received their first ever berth into NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse Tournament.
 
McCabe’s ongoing success to the program continued in 2012 when they recaptured the ECC championship title, with a 10-9 win over LIU Post in their final regular season contest.

During her tenure at Dowling has brought in over 25 ECC All-Conference member, 11 ICWLA All-Region members, and five All-Americans.

McCabe attended Sachem High School where she was a standout multi-sport student-athlete and currently resides in Dix Hills, NY.
