- The Dowling College field hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to Assumption College this afternoon. The Golden Lions fall to 2-10 on the season as the Greyhounds improve to 6-3.
Assumption score three times in less that four minutes midway through the opening frame and took a 3-0 lead into the break. The Greyhounds tacked on their fourth goal just three minutes into the second half when Paige Anderson blasted a shot from inside the circle out the reach of Dowling's keeper Ariana Ovadia
. The Golden Lions broke up the shut out in the 53rd
minute of play when Sarah Shams-Kollar
passed to Martina Tinnirello
who found the back of the net moving the score to 4-1. Assumption tallied their final goal of the day in the final minutes when Taylor Chase scored off a penalty corner brining the game to it's final 5-1 score.
The Greyhounds out shot the Golden Lions 24-6 with a 14-2 penalty corner advantage. Dowling's Ovadia finished the day with 12 saves as Assumptions keeper Lauren Nellan recorded one.
