CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y.- For the second straight week, junior
Chris Friedl of the Dowling College men’s soccer team was named East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts on the field.
Friedl helped the Golden Lions go 2-0 this past week in conference play. The junior goal keeper recorded eight saves on Wednesday afternoon and only allowed one goal against Mercy College. In a crucial ECC matchup, Friedl made four saves to come away with the win against UDC. Friedl finished the week with 12 saves and a .857 save percentage.

Jose Herrera, Men’s Soccer (Sr, M, Sterling, Va.)
Jose Herrea scored three of Dowling’s four goals last week. Herrera scored two goals for the Golden Lions on Wednesday afternoon to push Dowling to a 2-1 victory over the Mercy College Mavericks. Herrera continued his scoring streak as he was successfully converted a penalty kick. The senior midfielder tallied six points with three goals, and had five shots on goal.
Lindsey Thompson, Women’s Soccer (Sr, F, Centereach, N.Y.)
Lindsey Thompson contributed on two of Dowling’s three goals last week. Thompson had a goal and an assist for a total of three points in the victory against Concordia College.
Kayla Dillman, Volleyball (Jr, S, Rochester, N.Y.)
Dillman guided the Golden Lion offense to a 2-0 week recording 81 assists, 11.57 assists per set. The junior also picked up 12 digs while assisting on seven blocks and added three service aces.
