CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y.- Three Golden Lions earned East Coast Conference Weekly Awards for their efforts on the field this week. Junior
Kayla Dillman was named Setter of the Week as Chris Freidl and
Jose Herrera on men’s soccer earned Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week.
Dillman guided the Golden Lions to a 2-0 week with wins over LIU Post and Queens College. She dished 70 assists to average 10 assists per set and continues to lead the ECC with an average of 11.05 assists per set for the season. The setter led Dowling to a .256 hitting percentage as a team while adding 13 digs and five service aces.
Friedl played two games last week allowing just two goals. He went 110 minutes without allowing a goal last Wednesday as he recorded five saves in 0-0 shutout against Adelphi University. On Saturday afternoon, Friedl recorded another win against ECC opponent Queens College. He had five saves on the day. The junior goalkeeper completed the week with a .833 save percentage, 10 saves, and a 0.95 goals against average.
Herrera scored two goals on Saturday afternoon, as he helped lead the Golden Lions to a 5-2 victory against Queens College.
