BROOKVILLE, N.Y.- The Dowling College men’s soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to LIU Post this afternoon.  The Golden Lions slide to 6-5-1 on the season, 3-3-0 in East Coast Conference play.  The Pioneers improve to 9-3-1, 5-1-1 ECC.
 
After a scoreless first half, the Pioneers jumped ahead when Alfred Lindberg tapped in a rebounded shot in the 50^th minute.  The Golden Lions tied it up five minutes later after LIU turned the ball over just outside the back and Jose Herrera ripped a shot past Pioneer keeper Jesper Maimstrom.  In the 70^th minute, the Pioneers scored the game winner when Matias Ruiz sent in a corner kick that found the head of Alex Billington who snuck it in past Dowling’s keeper Chris Friedl.
 
The Pioneers out shot the Golden Lions 16 to 10 with a 13 to 3 corner kick advantage.
 
Dowling’s Friedl finished with five saves on the day with his counterpart Maimstrom recording three.
 
The Golden Lions return to Golden Lions Field as they host the University of Bridgeport this Saturday, October 13^th.  Game time is slated for 12:00 PM.
