Box Score OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.- The Dowling College men’s soccer team suffered a 2-1 East Coast Conference matchup with New York Institute of Technology this afternoon. The Golden Lions move to 6-3-1 on the season, 3-1-0 in ECC play. The Bears improve to 6-1-1 overall, 3-0-1 ECC.
During an evenly played opening frame, NYIT were first to strike with a goal in the 34
th minute of play. A cross from 18 yards out from Javier Gallardo found John Camponeschi who quickly fed the ball to Alex Barbosa for the 1-0 lead. Minutes later,
Kevin Diaz headed a shot towarn the NYIT goal, but Bears keeper Liam Waddy was the to make the save and preserve the one goal lead going into the break.
The Bears added to the lead late in the second half when Camponeschi headed in a cross from Harvey Houpe. Dowling cut the deficit in half in the 83
rd minute when
Chris Posillico found
Jose Herrera who out the ball past Waddy breaking up the shutout. But the Bears managed to hold down the stretch for the 2-1 win.
