Bloomfield. N.J. – The Dowling men’s soccer team found it difficult to score against the Bloomfield Bears as they lost by a score of 2-0. After giving up a penalty shot in the 24
th minute Dowling fell behind 1-0. They struggled to find scoring opportunities and the Bears were able to tack on another goal in the second half to earn a 2-0 victory. The Golden Lions see their record slip to 0-3-0 as the Bears improve to 1-2-1.

Scott Flores to make some big saves in the 3
rd and 7
th minute as the Bears tried to score early. The game remained scoreless until a Dowling foul in the 24
th minute provided the Bears with a penalty kick. Marin Jonjic put his shot past the Golden Lions keeper Flores to put Bloomfield ahead 1-0. The Golden Lions attempted to tie the game up right before the half with shots from midfielder Anton Anderesson and back
Kier Hetherington but Bloomfield keeper Wilson Cisneros came up with saves preserving the 1-0 lead going into the break.
Dowling was able to create some early scoring chances at the start of the second half. In the 49
th minute
Alex Hailes put a shot on goal that was saved by Cisneros. The Golden Lions threatened again with a corner kick in the 51
st minute but were unable to find an equalizing goal. The Bears held onto their one goal lead until the 79
th minute when Shaunavon DeSouza scored off of an assist from Shacquille Brown to stretch the lead to the game’s 2-0 final.
The Golden Lions will return to action on September 16
th with an away game against Georgian Court University.
