OAKDALE, N.Y.- The Dowling College men’s basketball team took down LIU Post 62-57 in their East Coast Conference matchup of the season this afternoon at Dowling Gymnasium. The Golden Lions improve to 2-4 on the season, 1-0 in ECC play. The Pioneers fall to 3-4 overall, 0-2 ECC.

Darien Davis led all players on the court with 26 points adding three steals and two assists. Junior
Evan Maxwell recorded a double double of 15 points and 14 rebounds with two blocks.
The Pioneers were led by Greg Dotson with a 22 point performance paired with ten boards. P.J. Torres pitched in with a double double of his own with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
LIU opened the game with the first eight points and following a triple by Akosa Maduegbunam at the 16:37 mark, the Pioneers grabbed their largest lead of the day 11-2. The Golden Lions came back with ten unanswered points to take their first lead of the day 12-11 with just over 11 minutes left in the half. The teams traded baskets over the next six minutes of play and a jumper from LIU’s Jared Hall put the Pioneers back on top 19-18 with less than six minutes on the clock. After three lead changes down the stretch, LIU’s Dotson drove the lane giving the Pioneers a 28-25 lead heading into the break.
Back to back buckets from Davis put the Golden Lions back on top, 39-38, with less than 12 minutes left on the clock. Three minutes later, LIU’s Dotson grabbed a rebound off Hall’s missed layup and slammed it down to knot the game at 42. The Pioneers built their lead back up to seven, 49-42, but seven unanswered from Davis brought the Golden Lions back and the teams exchanged the lead until

Ryan Hickey in the paint gave Dowling a 56-54 advantage with two minutes left in the game. The Golden Lions held the lead for the remainder knocking down key free throws to come away with the 62-57 win.
The Golden Lions return to action tomorrow, December 7
th as they travel to Merrimack College. Game time is set for 4:0 PM.
