SPARKILL, N.Y.- The Dowling College men’s basketball team fell in an East Coast Conference contest 103-71 to St. Thomas Aquinas College this afternoon at Aquinas Hall. The Golden Lions slide to 8-11 on the season, 6-6 in ECC play. The Spartans improve to 13-8 overall, 10-2 ECC.
Freshman
MiKing Richardson came off the bench and went 5-8 from the field, 5-7 from the free throw line for a team high 18 points. Junior
Evan Maxwell and sophomore Mike Guzzardi each provided 12 points. Sophomore
Ryan Hickey and Freshman
Tristan Brown rounded out the top scorers with 10 points apiece.
The Spartans also had five finish in double figures. Chaz Walter knocked down a game high 19 points with eight rebounds and three assists. Shaquille McFarlan and Justin Reyes finished with 12 points apiece and Sam Berlin and Aaron Cust each added 10 points.
As a team, the Golden Lions shot 42.3% from the field, 22 for 52, with the Spartans finishing at 53.2%, 41-77. STAC held a 50-30 advantage in the paint, and doubled up on the Golden Lions outrebounding them 48-23 with a 22-9 advantage on second chance points.
The Golden Lions return to action Monday, February 2
nd as they host Felician College. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
