OAKDALE, N.Y.- Sophomore
Michael Guzzardi poured in a game high 20 points to lead the Dowling College men’s basketball team to a 91-80 win over Molloy College. The Golden Lions improve to 8-9 on the season, 6-4 in East Coast Conference play. The Lions slide to 10-8 overall, 5-5 ECC.

Donte Adams each providing 18 points. Junior
Evan Maxwell tallied a double double with 14 points and 13 rebounds with freshman Trisan Brown rounding out the top scorers with 10 points. Guzzardi also finished with a double double pairing 14 boards with his 20 points.
The Lions were led by Brandon Williams who matched Guzzardi with 20 points. Jaylen Morris added 13 points and seven rebounds with Matt McLeod pitching in with 11 points.
After the Golden Lions tied the game at 40 less than a minute into the second half, Molloy went on a 9-1 run to take their largest lead of the night, 49-41, with 15:42 on the clock. The Lions continued to lead over the next four minutes of play until Dowling put up seven unanswered capped by two free throws from Adams put DC ahead 56-55. Minutes later back to back threes from Hickey and Adams put the Golden Lions ahead by 10, 67-57, with just over eight minutes left in the game. Molloy chipped away to get within two, 73-71 with five minutes left, the Golden Lions used key free throws down the stretch to come away with the 91-80 win.
The Golden Lions finished shooting 50% from the field while holding Molloy to just 38.4%.
The Golden Lions return to Dowling Gymnasium Wednesday, January 28
th as they host Mercy College. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
