AMHERST, N.Y.- The Dowling College men’s basketball team fell short 88-89 in an ECC affair with Daemen College Friday evening at Lumsden Gymnasium. The Golden Lions slide to 5-7 on the season, 3-2 in East Coast Conference play. The Wildcats improve to 9-3 overall, 4-0 ECC.
Four Golden Lions finished in double figures led by senior
Darien Davis with a double double of 27 points and 11 rebounds. Junior
Evan Maxwell recorded a double double of his own with 16 points paired with ten boards. Shophomore
Ryan Hickey pitched in with 16 points with freshman
MiKing Richardson rounding out the top scorers coming off the bench for 12 points. Freshman
Tristan Brown dished a season high 12 assists.
Gerald Beverly led the Wildcats with 27 points going 12 for 18 from the field while adding 21 rebounds. Torrence Dyck came away with 21 points with Jordan Green and Kyle Clifford finishing with 16 and 18 points respectively.
An evenly matched game saw the Wildcats shoot 47.3% (35-74), which was slightly better than Dowling’s 42.7% (35-82). The Golden Lions forced 14 turnovers while committing 11. Dowling converted those miscues to 16 points to the Wildcats 12 points off turnovers.
The home team was slightly edged at the free throw line. The Golden Lions finished at 80%, 12-15, while Daemen shot 66.7%, 14-21.
The Golden Lions continue their road trip as they face Roberts Wesleyan College Saturday, January 10
th. Game time is slated for 4:00 PM.
