Marta Slodnik, a 5’11" outside hitter from Gdynia, Poland, turned heads since her debut in 2003. In 2003 she lead the team with 449 kills giving her such honors as Rookie of the Year, First Team All-NYCAC, and Second Team All-Region honors.
Slodnik had an impressive sophomore season, scoring her career high 34 kills in the NYCAC Finals against Queens College on November 13, 2004. She was named to the AVCA All-American Third Team, making school history by becoming the first volleyball player in school history to earn All-American honors. Slodnik finished the season ranked fourth in the nation with 1.03 aces per game and eight in the nation averaging 5.23 kills per game.
In 2005 she helped lead the team to their first ever appearance in the Elite Eight, when she appeared in 22 matches, putting away 259 kills.
In 2006, Slodnik once again helped to lead the Golden Lions to the Elite Eight by compiling 373 kills and 73 aces as she earned 2006 AVCA All-American Honorable Mention.
Currently, Marta ranks second in Dowling history in kills and first in service aces.
