Joe Kistinger of Rocky Point, NY began his lacrosse career at Dowling in 1999 as a midfielder. In his first year, Kistinger quickly learned to contribute to the Golden Lions as he netted 19 goals and added 5 assists to total 24 points. Kistinger’s efforts aided the team’s placement of 8th in NCAA Division II Overall Scoring Offense.
Offensively, Kistinger began to stand out his sophomore year becoming an attack and leading the team with 41 goals to earn him a #3 ranking in the NYCAC. He also contribued with 14 assists for a 55 point season.
In 2001, Kistinger returned for his junior year of competition, scoring 37 goals and handed out 16 assists to total 53 points, ranking him 16th in NCAA Division II for points per game (4.08). Joe was also ranked 11th in goals per game averaging 2.85 and was named Honorable Mention USILA All-American.
Joe finished his career with 119 goals, 47 assists and 166 overall points. He led the Golden Lions to an appearance in the ECAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship and a first ever victory over conference opponent Southampton College.
