Karrie Farrell excelled both on and off the softball field during her time out Dowling as she earned and impressive number of academic and athletic awards. As a senior, she was named First Team All-Conference, Scholar Athlete of the Year for the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference, and the Dowling President’s Award after accumulating a 3.67 grade-point average in special education. On the softball field she led the team with 48 RBI, while batting .381 in her final season. Farrell was named Second Team All-Conference after leading the Golden Lions in RBI (58) as a junior, and ranked second in hits (72) and runs scored (48).
After becoming the President of the Dowling College Student-Athlete Council, Farrell became the first student-athlete in New York Collegiate Athletic Conference history to be named to the prestigious NCAA Student-Athlete Council. In addition, she also served on the Student Review Board, the American Standards Committee, and was a Membership Coordinator for the Student Council for Exceptional Children.
Farrell is currently a special education teacher in the Northport School District at Polaski Road Elementary. She coached six years of junior varsity softball and ninth grade soccer at Northport High School and is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in administration at Dowling. Farrell will wed her fiancé Paul on October, 15th 2004 and currently resides in Huntington.
