FIELD HOCKEY DROPS LAST GAME OF SEASON 4-1

BROOKHAVEN, NY: The Dowling College women’s field hockey team dropped their last game of the season to the Lions of Lindenwood College 4-1. The Golden Lions finish the season 1-11, the lions finish 7-8.
 
Lindenwood dominated the first half with a 14-1 shot advantage and a 9-1 advantage on penalty corners. Meredith Openlander started the goal scoring for the Lions when she received a pass from Amelia Rodriguez and scored just 2 ½ minutes into the game.
 
The Lions tacked on 2 more goals in the first half by Kristi O’Conner in the 20th minute and by Tara Robbin in the 26th minute. At the end of the first half, Lindenwood led 3-0.
 
Kim Geiger scored the lone goal of the game for the Golden Lions in the 43rd minute. She received a pass from Amanda DeGennaro and put it in the bottom right part of the goal.
 
The highlight of the game for the Golden Lions was when goal keeper Ariana Ovadia received a 5 minute penalty. Dowling was able to keep Lindenwood off of the scoreboard for the entire penalty with no goal keeper.
 
Lindenwood would later tack on another goal, ending the first season for the Golden Lions with a loss. Lindenwood finished the game with an 18-3 shots on goal advantage.
