WORCESTER, MASS.– The Dowling College field hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to Assumption College this afternoon.  The Golden Lions fall to 2-10 on the season as the Greyhounds improve to 6-3.

Assumption score three times in less that four minutes midway through the opening frame and took a 3-0 lead into the break.  The Greyhounds tacked on their fourth goal just three minutes into the second half when Paige Anderson blasted a shot from inside the circle out the reach of Dowling’s keeper Ariana Ovadia.  The Golden Lions broke up the shut out in the 53rd minute of play when Sarah Shams-Kollar passed to Martina Tinnirello who found the back of the net moving the score to 4-1.  Assumption tallied their final goal of the day in the final minutes when Taylor Chase scored off a penalty corner brining the game to it’s final 5-1 score.

The Greyhounds out shot the Golden Lions 24-6 with a 14-2 penalty corner advantage.  Dowling’s Ovadia finished the day with 12 saves as Assumptions keeper Lauren Nellan recorded one.

The Golden Lions travel to East Stroudsburg University Sunday, October 19th at 12:00 PM
