GOLDEN LIONS FALL TO BELLARMINE 4-0

Box Score BROOKHAVEN, N.Y.-  The Dowling College field hockey team came up short against the Knights of Bellarmine University this afternoon at Golden Lions Field.  The 4-0 loss puts the Golden Lions at 1-7 on the season as the Knights improve to 4-6.
 
The Knights got on the board in the 17th minute after they were given a penalty corner and Lorraine Armstrong passed the ball out to Rachel Waiz who sent it right back in where Armstrong was waiting at the near side post and tipped it in for a 1-0 lead.
 
Bellarmine recorded three goals in the second half for the 4-0 finish.  Waiz got the scoring started nine minutes in with a shot from inside the arc.  Back to back goals by Brittany Raque in the 49th and 53rd minute rounded out the scoring.
 
The Knights outshot the Golden Lions 22 to 3 and held a 14 to 3 advantage in penalty corners.
 
Dowling goalkeeper Ariana Ovadia finished the day with 12 saves. 

The Golden Lions return to action as the host St. Michael’s College Saturday, October 19th at 12:00 PM.
