Community Service

The Dowling College Athletic Department is committed to Building Champions on and off the playing fields.  Our student-athletes are community leaders, devoted to making an impact on local and national organizations.

Many teams have their own service projects but all student-athletes participate in two departmental community service initiatives:  Make-A-Wish and Keep Islip Clean (KIC).  On September 28th, Dowling hosted the 2nd Annual Walk for Wishes 5K, helping raise over $15,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  This fall, for the ninth consecutive year, the Golden Lion’s will team-up with Keep Islip Clean, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful.  Over 250 student-athletes and coaches will join forces to clean, beautify and demonstrate pride in the Dowling community.

Some of the community projects that individual teams participate in include:  Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Team Impact, Special Olympics, Big Brother / Big Sister Clothing Drives, Tunnel to Tower Run, Alexander’s Angels Down Syndrome Walk, LAX for Life Tournament, HeadStrong Lacrosse Tournament, Night Out on the Golden Lions and numerous other events.

Dowling Athletics adheres to the motto, “Building Champions in Academics, Athletics, within the Community and in Life”.
