Tom Caputo enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Dowling Golden Lions registering an overall record of 89-57-1. 

Last season, the Golden Lions posted a 36-17 overall record earning the ECC regular season title (19-5) and advancing to the NCAA regional with an at large bid. Dowling fell to Saint Thomas Aquinas in the Championship round. The Pitching staff had the best ERA in the country with a 2.42 team ERA. The Golden Lions also led the country in Triples per game.

In the 2013 season, the Golden Lions finished 22-21-1 earning the second seed in the ECC Championship Tournament.


In the 2012 season, the Golden Lions posted a 31-19 overall record capturing their second straight ECC Tournament title and making their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament.

Caputo has landed fifteen Golden Lions on ECC All-Conference teams including the ECC Pitcher of the Year in the 2013 and 2014 season. Caputo was named the Coach of the Year by his peers after guiding the Golden Lions to an East Coast Conference Regular Season title for the first time since the 2008 season.

As an assistant during the 2011 season, the Golden Lions went on to a 25-26 overall record winning the ECC Tournament and appearing in the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament.

Caputo began his college coaching career as an assistant coach at Farmingdale State College. During his 3 years, the Rams won 3 conference titles and had an appearance in the Division III College World Series. He resigned from Farmingdale in 2010 to join the Dowling Golden Lions coaching staff. 

The Valley Stream native graduated from Valley Stream Central High School in 1994, where he played both Football and Baseball earning All-County recognitions in both sports. 

Caputo earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Hofstra where he played Division I Baseball. He led the Flying Dutchmen as their captain, helping his team achieve playoff appearances and earned All-Conference Honors for his performances. After college Caputo spent 3 seasons playing for the Long Island Ducks. 

Caputo currently resides in Bohemia with his wife Christine and three children, Thomas, Madison and Tyler.
