Chris Williams played three varsity seasons at Dowling College and became one of the team’s top players. A 6’4" forward with amazing leaping ability, regularly gave fans a show with his amazing dunks. During his senior year, he was named All-Conference and All-NAIA District and also won the MVP of the Hamilton-Utica College Tournament.
By the end of his career (1976-1979), Williams held the #6 spot on the Dowling’s All-Time list for top scorers with a total of 1141 points. He also held the # 4 spot on the All-Time rebounds list with a total of 806. During the ’78-’79 season, Williams led all players with an astounding 361 rebounds. Not only were his accomplishments great at Dowling, but he was also a member of the 1978 Empire State Games championship team and was also selected as an All-Star in the prestigous Holcom Rucker summer basketball league.
Chris Williams is considered one of the greatest players in Dowling College basketball history. With his many contributions to the men’s basketball team, he was able to lead the team to greater accomplishments as well as achieve the ultimate goal of becoming an All-American.
