CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y.-
Two Golden Lions earned East Coast Conference Weekly Awards for their efforts this week. Junior Scott Litts
of the men’s cross country team earned Runner of the Week for the second straight week as freshman Christina Cottone
of the women’s soccer team was named Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Cottone was a key factor in Dowling’s win against Pace University. Cottone recorded an assist off a corner kick, which gave Dowling the first goal of the game. In the last minute of the half, Cottone doubled the lead to 2-0 after she scored a goal of her own.
Litts took first place once again in the College Division of the University of Delaware Blue and Gold Invitational with a time of 26:59.42, which helped the Golden Lions place ahead of conference foes St. Thomas Aquinas and NYIT this past weekend.
Ally Abruzzo, (Sr, M, Mount Sinai, N.Y.)
Abruzzo played a vital role in Saturday’s win against Pace University. The senior tallied 3 points on a goal and an assist. In the closing seconds of the game, Abruzzo had the breakaway as she shot the game winning goal.
