GOLDEN LIONS EARN ECC WEEKLY HONORS

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y.-  Two Golden Lions earned East Coast Conference Weekly Honors this week.  Junior Scott Litts of the men’s cross country team was named ECC Runner of Week for the first time this season as Katarzyna Klocek of volleyball earned ECC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time.  Four Golden Lions were named to the Honor Roll for their respective sports.

Litts led the Golden Lions at the NJIT Technology XC Challenge with a first place finish and a personal best time of 25:24.73.

Klocek finished the week with 30 kills reaching double digits in matches against the University of Bridgeport and Roberts Wesleyan College. The freshman added 13 digs while recording eight total blocks.

HONOR ROLL



Mike Gronenthal (So, F, Levittown, N.Y.)

Gronenthal recorded a team high five points in a 2-0 week for the Golden Lions. The sophomore tallied his first goal and assist in the 4-0 win over Mercy College. He followed with his second goal of the season in the 3-1 win over UDC.



Melissa Guglielmo (Jr, GK, West Babylon, N.Y.)

Guglielmo recorded her fifth shut out of the season in the 2-0 non-conference won over Chestnut Hill College. Her two saves brings her to 37 on the season as she continues to lead the ECC with a .925 save percentage and a .35 goals against average.


Cassy Kelly (Jr, OH, Fraiser, Mich.)

Kelly led the Golden Lions in a 2-1 week with 35 kills averaging 2.50 kills per set. The junior finished the week with 36 digs, 2.57 digs per set while adding four service aces. Kelly recorded double doubles in the five set wins over Daemen College and Roberts Wesleyan College.



Lindsey Thompson, Dowling (Jr, F, Centereach, N.Y.)

Thompson recorded both goals for the Golden Lions this week. She tallied a goal in each half of the 2-0 win over Chestnut Hill College as she continues to lead the ECC in goals scored.
