OAKDALE, N.Y.- Brendan Butler of the Dowling College baseball team has been selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 30th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.
This season, the 6-3 right hander accumulated 43 strikeouts in 54.1 innings of work en route to a 5-2 record with a 3.48 ERA.
The Sayville, N.Y. native becomes the sixth player in Golden Lions history to be selected in the MLB draft. This is the second straight year Dowling has had a pitcher drafted with Tyler Badamo selected by the New York Mets in the 2014 draft.
