OAKDALE, N.Y.- The Dowling College baseball team has earned its second consecutive bid, fourth in the past five seasons, to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament hosted by top seeded Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H.
The Golden Lions (27-15) enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will face off against the No. 2 seeded Stonehill College. The last time these two teams met was in February of last season with the Golden Lions coming away with a 5-4 win.
The championship provides for eight regional sites hosting six teams. All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played May 14-17. Regional champions will advance to the double-elimination championship finals May 24-31 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. The finals will be hosted by the University of Mount Olive and the town of Cary, North Carolina.
Also earning spots in the tournament are No. 3 Southern New Hampshire University, No. 4 Wilmington University and No. 6 St. Thomas Aquinas College.
