SHIRLEY, N.Y.–  The Dowling College baseball team came away with a 24-3 win over Molloy College in their final game at Golden Lions Field this afternoon.  With the win, the Golden Lions become the East Coast Conference Co-Regular Season Champions with an ECC record of 15-9, 27-13 overall, sharing the title with the University of Bridgeport.  Molloy sees their season end at 22-23 overall, 10-14 ECC.

Molloy came out to an early 2-0 lead with runs in the top of the first and second innings courtesy of RBI singles from John Galanoudis and Jack McCarty.  The Golden Lions broke through in the bottom on the second when senior Tyler Hardison gave the Golden Lions a 3-2 lead with a bases loaded triple to deep centerfield.  Two batters later senior Adam Schuster sent a sacrifice fly out to left for a 4-2 advantage heading into the third.

Dowling starter senior David Montiverdi shut down the Lions in order in the top of the third and the Golden Lions batted around on the bottom half for 10 runs and a 14-2 lead.  Dowling would go on to push across 10 more over the next five innings to come away with the 24-3 win.

Eight Golden Lions recorded a multi-hit game en route to a season high 24 total hits.  Seniors John Cruz and Dan Parisi had four hits apiece and combined for seven RBIs and five runs scored.  Senior Dominick Raucci came off the bench and went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Montiverdi improved to 4-0 on the season as he picked up the win with 5.1 innings on the mound while fanning six patters.  Sophomore John Parisi and freshman Dennis Buckstein shut out the Lions in the 6th and 7th before giving way to senior Nicholas Persad who tossed the final two innings.

The Golden Lions will enter the ECC Championship Tournament this week as the No. 1 seed and will face off against the No. 4 seeded LIU Post.  The tournament will begin Thursday, May 7th with a game time to be determined.
