Oakdale, NY-
The Men’s Basketball team finished the 2009-2010 season with a 10-20 record and a first-round loss to Queens in the ECC Championships.
Despite the sub-.500 record, the Golden Lions had some bright spots on the season. Among their 10 wins were a nail-biting double overtime victory over Nyack, a three game sweep of Mercy, and an upset win over eventual ECC Champion, Bridgeport.
Individually, the team was led by senior guard David Seagers (Bronx, NY). Seagers wrapped up his four year career at Dowling as the second leading scorer in the 40 plus year history of the program with 1,856 points and the all-time leader in steals. An all-around force on the court who led the team in points, points per game, rebounds, assists, and steals, Seagers was named to the All-Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Second Team, the ECAC All-Star Second Team, and the ECC All-Conference Second Team after being named the ECC Preseason Player of the Year.
"We've got a lot to work on for next year, but with a wealth of new and returning talent taking the court this upcoming season, I'm confident we're headed in the right direction." Said head coach Steve Hayn.
