After making their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division II World Series in 2009, the Golden Lions had a 2010 season that saw them miss the conference playoffs for the first time since 1999.

The season got off to a promising start as the Golden Lions held a 9-6 record through their first 15 games. However, the team would finish the season with a 10-18 record over their final 28 games, while dropping four of the final five conference series. Despite a 19-24 record on the season, there were some bright spots for the team on the year.

A year after having probably the best season ever by a Dowling pitcher, Gabriel Duran (Brooklyn, NY) pitched just as well and arguably even better in 2010. Duran finished with a 5-3 record and a nationally leading 0.74 ERA. He struck out 68 batters to become the school’s all-time strikeout leader as a junior and also threw two no-hitters. His outstanding season earned him All-American honors from three publications for the second straight season when he was named to the ABCA/Rawlings, Daktronics, and NCBWA All-America Second Team. Duran also earned First Team All-Region honors from all three publications in addition to being an ECAC All-Star and ECC Pitcher of the Year.

Other Golden Lions earned honors for their outstanding seasons including Frank Intagliata (Franklin Square, NY) who earned Daktronics and NCBWA All-Region honors as well as ECC All-Conference First Team honors. Sean Craig (Rocky Point, NY) was also named ECC Rookie of the Year, and Daniel Pembroke (Wading River, NY) and Eddie Squeri (Shirley, NY) also received All-Conference honors.
