Oakdale, NY- A special commencement ceremony was held for the graduating members of the Dowling Men's Lacrosse team this past Wednesday in the Ballroom of the Oakdale/Rudolph campus.
Because of their participation in the NCAA DII Semifinals at C.W. Post University during the larger commencement ceremony held on Saturday, May 22nd,
Brandon Bergersen,
Joe Biondolillo,
Justin Bunton, and
Thomas Stellwagen would each receive their degrees from President Robert J. Gaffney in a ceremony held for them and their families.
"We are extremely proud of all of you for your accomplishments and great run this year. There is no taking away from the outstanding success you had and we wish you all of the best in your future." President Gaffney would say in his address to the graduates. "Remember that you will always be part of the Dowling family."
Rick Cole, Jr., the Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Institutional Advancement, would also address the student-athletes, applauding them for not just their success this year, but in their time at Dowling. "Your success is not just limited to this year, but in the many years you have been at Dowling." Said Cole. "I know each of you will have much success in your future endeavors and all of us look forward to seeing you in the crowd at our home games next season."
Dowling Men's Lacrosse would finish out the season with a 12-2 record while reaching the NCAA DII Semifinals for the first time since participating in the National Championship in 2006.
