Oakdale, NY- The Women's Tennis team would have one of their most successful season in recent memory as they went on to reach the East Coast Conference Final while finishing the Fall Season with a 7-5 record.
The Golden Lions would open up the 2009 season on a four game win streak starting with a 6-3 victory over Georgian Court on September 8th. Dowling would then go on to win six more games in the regular season, boosting their record to 7-4 and earning a spot in the East Coast Conference Championship Tournament.
Despite a hard fought match against top ranked Queens College, Dowling would fall in the final and end their fall season at 7-5.
Diane Kobasiuk would have an outstanding season during her senior year, going 9-1 in third singles play while posting a 7-2 doubles record. She would also have a great run in the beginning of the fall as she failed to drop a set in the first five matches of the year.
Three Golden Lions would go on to earn All-Conference recognitions with Tamiris Diversi making the first team while Kobasiuk and Cristina Hoffman would each get second team nods.
Off the court, Kobasiuk would also go on to earn the ECC Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year award for her work in the classroom.
