Steven says a few words to the crowd on Saturday.
Oakdale, NY-
Last year Dowling held their first annual Make-A-Wish day at Dowling Gymnasium, presenting a check for $5,500 while hearing from a former Wish recipient, touching the hearts of all in attendance that day.  This year was no different as, once again, hundreds of people flocked to Oakdale, NY to show their support for not only the Golden Lions Basketball teams,  but also Dowling and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

500 people packed into Dowling Gymnasium, first catching am exciting 74-52 Women's Basketball victory over Mercy College that saw Simona Bartkova score a game high 16 points on the day.  After the game, Dowling Alumni would take to the court, giving everyone a good show as they split up into teams for a quick scrimmage.

Next up would be the Men's game.  With Dowling holding a 1 point lead at the half, both Men's and Women's Basketball teams joined members of the Dowling Student Athlete Advisory Committee to present a check for $12,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Accepting the check was Steven, a former recipient of a Wish.  Because of the efforts of so many people, Steven was able to fullfil his wish of skiing the Rocky Mountains with his family.  Steven told of his experience to the crowd, giving everyone a glimpse of how their support directly impacts those who are less fortunate.   Even though a check was made for $12,000, the number continues to grow as more and more people contribute to the cause.

To top off the day, the Men's team would take a 74-67 victory over Mercy with David Seagers leading the scoring charge with 21 points.  Dowling alumni would take the court once again for a men's scrimmage after the game, capping off a very special day for all.
