Gabriella presents the team with the MAW golden star.
Brookhaven, NY-
Despite cold weather and continuous rain throughout the day, over 170 people showed up for the 2nd annual Dowling Wishmakers Fall Classic held at Golden Lions Field this Sunday.  All proceeds from the day would go towards the Make-a-Wish-Foundation.

Three teams would participate on the day as Stony Brook University and Manhattan College would join Dowling to give the fans three exciting matches of Men's Lacrosse.  The first game of the day would put the Golden Lions against the Seawolves of Stony Brook.  Before the start of the game, an honorary faceoff would take place as Gabriella, a recipient of a wish from the Make-a-Wish Foundation, would meet the captains at midfield.

Dowling would get off to a rocky start in the beginning, with Stony Brook taking a 9-1 lead at the half.  However, Dowling would answer back with a few goals of their own as John McClure and Kyle O'Brien would each tally two.  This game would end with Stony Brook taking a 15-6 win.  After the game, Gabriella would once again take the field and address the crowd,  expressing her thanks for the work and effort put in by everyone for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.  Because of the supporters of the program, Gabriella was able to fulfill her wish of meeting singer Taylor Swift.

The second game of the day would take place between Stony Brook and Manhattan.  Playing a shortened game with two halves of twenty minutes wouldn't take away from thescoring chances as both teams battled it out.  In the end, Manhattan College would take a 6-5 victory thanks to 3 goals from Joe Mahon.

Manhattan would once again take the field for the third and final match against the Golden Lions.  This game would be extended with 5 periods of twenty minutes, giving both teams plenty of opportunities to score.  Manhattan would jump out to an early lead, taking a 5-2 lead after the 2nd.  Dowling would explode in the 3rd, scoring 5 to Manhattan's 2.  Despite 4 goals on the day from John McClure, Dowling would fall to Manhattan, 14-11.

So far this year, Dowling Men's Lacrosse has raised $5,200 for the Make-a-Wish foundation through sales of stars and proceeds from the Fall Classic.
